Independent citizen journalists and media figures exposing government fraud and taxpayer abuse.

Who Is Nick Shirley?

Nick Shirley (born April 4, 2002) is an American independent citizen journalist from Utah who has become one of the most influential investigative voices in grassroots accountability journalism. What started as a YouTube channel in 2015 has grown into a nationwide movement to expose alleged government fraud, waste, and abuse of taxpayer dollars.

Armed with nothing but a camera and a commitment to the truth, Nick goes directly to the source — knocking on doors, asking the hard questions, and documenting what he finds for millions of viewers.

The Rise

In December 2025, Nick published a viral investigation into alleged fraud at Somali-run child care centers in Minnesota. The video exploded — hitting over 135 million views on X and more than 3 million on YouTube. The investigation was amplified by Elon Musk, Vice President JD Vance, and FBI Director Kash Patel, catapulting Nick from a relatively unknown creator to a household name in citizen journalism practically overnight.

Recognition & Impact

Nick’s work hasn’t just gone viral — it’s driven real-world results:

  • Citizen Journalist of the Year 2025 — Named by James O’Keefe, founder of Project Veritas
  • White House Roundtable — Invited to participate in discussions on government accountability and fraud prevention
  • Congressional Testimony — Called to testify before Congress about his investigative findings on alleged fraud schemes
  • FBI & Law Enforcement Attention — Multiple investigations he has covered have received follow-up from federal and state agencies

What He Covers

Nick’s investigations span every corner of alleged government fraud in America: Medicare and Medicaid billing schemes, daycare and childcare fraud, hospice and home health fraud, elder care abuse, VA fraud, government contract waste, and more. He has investigated alleged fraud in all 50 states, building one of the most comprehensive citizen journalism archives in the country.

Content Style

Nick’s approach is direct and unflinching. He conducts street interviews, shows up at facilities unannounced, asks pointed questions, and lets the camera capture what happens. No corporate filters. No PR handlers. Just raw, citizen-led accountability journalism that puts the public interest first.
