The Disability That Erased the Student Loans
A physician assistant falsified her own medical records to win VA disability — then used the fake disability status to discharge $242,528 in federal student loans. Twelve months.
Nolte, a licensed physician assistant, falsified her medical records to file for and receive disability benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs.
She then used the fraudulently obtained disability status to have $242,528 in federal student loans discharged — converting a stolen benefit into a second, larger one.
The case was investigated by the VA OIG, the FBI and the Department of Education OIG. Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh presided.
