Prosecutor on Feeding our Future juror bribe: 'Something out of a mob movie'

Federal authorities have charged five individuals with allegedly attempting to bribe a juror during the Feeding Our Future fraud trial in Minneapolis. According to FOX 9 Minneapolis-St. Paul, this case represents an unprecedented attack on the justice system in Minnesota, involving cash bribes, surveillance, and what prosecutors describe as a sophisticated plot to corrupt the jury deliberation process.

According to the report, on June 2nd, an unknown woman allegedly showed up at the home of Juror 52 with $120,000 in cash, intended as a bribe in exchange for an acquittal. When the juror did not answer the door, FOX 9 Minneapolis-St. Paul reports that the woman left the money with another person at the residence. The juror immediately contacted authorities upon learning of the attempted bribe.

The video shows images of the bag containing cash and explains that fingerprints on the bag led investigators to Ladan Ali, who lived in Seattle.

The report states that Ali’s rental car was documented near the juror’s home on 19 separate occasions. On June 2nd, Abdulkarim Farah allegedly purchased a screwdriver to remove the license plates from Ali’s rental car before the bribe delivery.

Perhaps most chilling, according to FOX 9 Minneapolis-St. Paul, is what investigators allegedly found on Abdi Mahid Nur’s phone: a detailed “blueprint for acquittal” document instructing the juror on how to argue for acquittal. The video shows portions of this document, which allegedly began by instructing the juror to tell other jurors “we are immigrants, they don’t respect and care about us.” According to the report, the document made repeated false claims of government racism and concluded with the phrase “you alone can end this case.”

The video captures U.S. Attorney Luger’s concern about this development for Minnesota’s justice system.
